WASHINGTON, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Olympic gold medallist Evan Lysacek announced Thursday that he will take a break from figure skating and skip the rest of 2010.

"The next few months will be very busy for me," the surprising Vancouver winner said. "I will be working with sponsors and charities, including Ronald McDonald House and Ralph Lauren's Pink Pony Foundation."

Lysacek, who beat Russian franchise Evgeni Plushenko to win gold at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, however, has not yet ruled out the national championships slated for January 22-30 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

His 2009-2010 Grand Prix season included a silver medal at the Cup of China and gold at both Skate America and the Grand Prix Final.

"The 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi are still very much on my radar," Lysacek said. "I have not decided yet if I will try to compete at another Games, but I'm definitely keeping that option open."
