COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Ice dancers Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto are retiring from competitive figure skating.

The announcement came Thursday, but the duo frequently mentioned that the past season would be their last.

The five-time U.S. champions in ice dance did not compete at the world championships after finishing fourth at the Vancouver Olympics. Belbin and Agosto, who won silver at the 2006 Turin Games, leave as the most decorated ice dancers in U.S. history.

Belbin is originally from Kirkland, Que. Belbin and Agosto plan to keep skating together professionally.
