CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio - Holly Moore, a freshman at Gilmour, and Daniel Klaber, a junior at Brush, placed eighth at the novice ice dancing level at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

It marked the first time they competed in the event, held Jan. 22-31 in Greensboro, N.C.

Moore and Klaber skate for the Pavilion Skating Club in Cleveland Heights, where they are coached by Jackie Miles and Chip Rossbach. Last year, they were the silver medalists at the intermediate level of ice dancing at the U.S. Figure Skating Junior Championships. Their goal is to compete in the Olympics.

Additionally, the ice dance team of Kimberly Berkovich and Micah Jaffe, both of the Pavilion Skating Club, placed fifth in the nation at the juvenile level. The Junior National Championships were held in Salt Lake City in December.

The ice dance team of Jessica Manahan of Pavilion Skating Club and Alex Schachtel of Shaker Figure Skating Club placed 13th nationally at the intermediate level. Klaber placed 15th in intermediate men's freestyle.
