The South Shore Skating Club (SSSC) is one of more than 600 USFS clubs in existence throughout the country. A non-profit organization run by a volunteer Board of Directors, the club was established fifteen years ago and has 72 active members from fifteen towns across the south shore. Acceptance to the SSSC is contingent upon a skater attaining an advanced level of basic figure skating skills and the recommendation of a staff coach. The club is based at Rockland Ice Rink and offers weekly Freestyle and Moves in the Field practice sessions. Members train year round under the direction of professional coaches and compete in many other local USFS competitions.
In addition to hosting the annual South Shore Open competition, the SSSC organizes USFS Test Sessions several times per year. Test Sessions are judged by USFS sanctioned judges and set the standards for individual progress, as well as qualifying standards for competition level and placement.
